We've reviewed our cost of living figures based on current prices and feedback from readers. Here are the updated estimates.
Housing
Rental prices have increased about 8% compared to last year:
- 2-bed apartment (town): €1,200-1,800/month
- 2-bed apartment (urbanisation): €1,400-2,200/month
- 3-bed townhouse: €2,000-3,500/month
- Detached villa: €3,500-10,000+/month
Buying prices remain high but stable, with some softening in the ultra-luxury segment.
Utilities
Monthly costs for a 2-bed apartment:
- Electricity: €80-150 (higher with AC)
- Water: €25-40
- Gas (bottle): €15-20
- Internet/TV: €40-60
- Community fees: €100-300
Food & Dining
- Weekly supermarket shop (2 people): €80-120
- Coffee: €1.50-2.50
- Beer: €2.50-4
- Lunch menu del día: €12-15
- Dinner for two (mid-range): €60-80
Transport
- Petrol: €1.55-1.65/litre
- Car insurance: €400-800/year
- ITV (MOT): €35-45
- Taxi from Marbella to Málaga airport: €65-80
Healthcare
- Private health insurance: €80-200/month (depending on age and coverage)
- GP visit (private): €50-80
- Specialist consultation: €100-150
